Small Business Month in Mississauga

Small business plays a vital role for our Mississauga economy. With over 97,000 small businesses in Mississauga, it is our vision at the City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office to help these businesses thrive and grow locally, nationally, and globally.

As part of the City’s Economic Development Office, the Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre (MBEC) is dedicated to the development and innovation of Mississauga’s entrepreneurial and small business community.

A recent study shows that Canadians believe that entrepreneurs are brave, courageous, hardworking, and innovative.   Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I believe this to be true. I know the joys and challenges of owning a small business. Having access to the right resources, opportunities, information, and guidance, is important to support success during all stages of a business.

As Director of Economic Development at the City of Mississauga, I am excited to announce and support this year’s Small Business Month.

Small Business Month is an annual celebration that happens during the month of October.

During this time, entrepreneurs come together online and at free events to learn, network with other entrepreneurs, and celebrate entrepreneurship.

To celebrate small business month, the Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre (MBEC) is hosting a free digital marketing conference, as well as provide a variety of special opportunities for people to learn how to start a small business, and information sessions on government related topics.

Digital Marketing Conference

Digital technology is changing the way people do business and business owners are transforming their businesses to meet the demands of the modern consumer. In 2019, a survey conducted by the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), says that there are 61% of Canadians buying online, which is an increase from 43% in 2013.

The Digital Marketing Conference on October 30, is an event where small business owners can learn how to develop their online brand.

Attendees will learn from expert speakers on how to leverage digital marketing tools, techniques, and strategies to help take their business to the next level. They will also have the opportunity to network with other business owners and digital experts, and learn about other digital marketing support available through MBEC, including the Mississauga Digital Main Street program.

Starting a Small Business Seminars
